Universal Design LI increases awareness and promotes acceptance of Universal Design standards in the design, construction and renovation of all homes on Long Island. Greater implementation of Universal Design provides significant social and economic benefits to Long Island, including allowing residents to live longer in their homes, remain active longer in their communities and enjoy greater independence, autonomy and quality of life amidst their families. Universal Design LI is a project of “the” Suffolk Community Council, “Inc” and is supported by many of Long Island’s government officials, social service agencies, architects, designers, retailers, and building industry companies.
